Email Templates vs Email Campaigns

The Email Marketing module primarily revolves around two core functional areas: Email Templates and Email Campaigns. Understanding the fundamental difference structurally helps you build faster, more scalable, and significantly more consistent marketing assets.

A template is a preset structural layout that you build your campaign natively on top of.

Templates are essentially reusable foundational layouts, functioning almost identically to design presets. You deliberately build templates for recurring specific purposes (e.g. a standardized monthly newsletter, a welcome automation email, or an aesthetic receipt).

  • You explicitly can securely insert regular recurring assets like static images, fixed legal text, persistent company logos, or standardized button styles.
  • When explicitly creating a new broadcast send, you actively choose an existing template to natively inherit that established brand format without manually rebuilding blocks from absolute scratch.

A campaign is the actual functional email message you physically design and literally send to your specific contact segments or targeted smartlists.

The Email Campaigns area is precisely where you functionally take an existing standard Email Template, actively customize the unique body copy strictly for that specific day’s send, and seamlessly secure the email to physically be broadcasted individually, broadly via a targeted smart list, or dynamically through intelligent contact tags.

  • Campaigns physically represent the final “send event.”
  • Once actively sent, you uniquely still maintain the full ability to dynamically reuse campaigns by elegantly cloning them natively for recurring dates, allowing you to efficiently recycle high-performing campaign content.
